The name Copernica is a reference to the Polish scientist Nicolaus Copernicus. Copernicus was born
in 1473 and died in 1543. He was the first to develop a theory which placed the sun in the centre
of the universe, instead of the earth.
According to Copernicus' theory, the sun is the centre of the universe with the earth and all the
other planets circling around it. With this theory Copernicus was the first to elegantly describe
the typical movement of the planets. This movement is caused by observing the planets from earth,
also circling the sun.
