Virtual fields now available in Marketing Suite

Virtual fields

We have added a new feature to the Marketing Suite: virtual fields in databases. With virtual fields, you can use data that is not physically stored in the database, but is automatically calculated at the moment you need it.

Virtual fields are suitable for all kinds of use cases. For example, you can create a birthday field that is dynamically determined based on a date of birth. Or a last_purchased_product field, which is filled in real time based on order history and product attributes from an external data source or integration.

Many users currently store additional, overlapping data in their Copernica database so it can be used directly in mailings or campaigns. With virtual fields, this is no longer necessary. The required information is calculated on the fly, which prevents duplicate data and keeps the database clean and well organized.

In addition, virtual fields make templates simpler and easier to maintain. Logic that previously lived in templates—such as complex conditions and if statements—can be moved to a virtual field. This makes templates more readable and easier to reuse, while the underlying logic remains centrally managed.
